Ana Seixas is a Brazilian-Portuguese visual artist, born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her first Bachelor's study was in Economics, at the Federal Fluminense University, in Rio de Janeiro. In the middle of this course, in 2006, Ana did a year-long student exchange in Paris, France. This experience made her change her professional path and pursue studies in Fashion Design.
Upon returning to Brasil, she graduated and worked as Fashion Designer in the following years with success and recognition - appearing in magazines such as Vogue (Brazil) and Máxima (Portugal); specially in the period when she worked for the Brazilian brand Maria Bonita: The access to the experimental creative process and the intense connection with art allowed by the concept of the brand, made Ana Seixas become closer to the world of art.
In 2013, in search of a more conceptual deepening of the art, Ana moved to Porto (Portugal), to study her Post-Graduation in Fashion and Art. From then on, Ana Seixas embraced her artistic career, falling in love with the conceptual and experimental freedom which contemporary art can provide.
Through experimentalism and references of the Textile and Povera arts, the artist relates her memories to the passage of time and uses organic material as a base on her installations.
In 2016, after finishing her Master's degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (Portugal), Ana Seixas moved to Bolzano (Italy). In this city of new geographical, biological and sociocultural references, the artist lives new experiences and reflects them in her works.
